About
My name is Alexa Young
María Victoria González is a Venezuelan singer, composer, and harpist whose artistry preserves and nurtures Venezuelan folk music, carrying its rhythmic, poetic, and harmonic sophistication into contemporary production and the storytelling language of musical theater.
Her career began with singing in university choirs and performing at national festivals, where she showcased the richness of Venezuelan folklore on stage, both as a singer and dancer. She then joined Venezuela’s Orquesta Alma Llanera, where she performed as harpist and singer for five years (2016–2021). With the orchestra, she toured nationally, mentored young musicians, collaborated with some of Venezuela’s most respected composers, and represented her country at the United Nations in Vienna in 2018.
In May 2025, she performed as the pit band harpist in the New York City developmental workshop of Basura, an original musical with music by Gloria and Emily Estefan, and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire.
In 2026, María will release her debut single, offering a voice rooted in Venezuelan tradition and shaped by resilience, faith, and a deep sense of purpose.
